The nominations are out and we are now counting the days until the winners are announced on the 20th November 2020 at 8pm, in a pre-recorded programme, presented by Helen Skelton (and many thanks to The Hepworth Wakefield for letting us film in one of their lovely galleries). Whilst we are sad that we can’t all be together at the Queens Hotel, we will be together watching the programme from our homes.

Please feel free to dress up, eat a lovely meal, crack open the fizz and celebrate the brilliance of television production in the Yorkshire region.

With over 100 submissions for 22 categories, our judges were given the difficult task of selecting, from very high quality submissions, the nominees and the winners. As per usual, the judging followed the rules for RTS Centre Awards, including managing any conflicts of interest in an appropriate way. Each judging panel was chaired by a member of the RTS Yorkshire Committee to ensure fairness and that decisions were made in line with our rules. I am very grateful to all those who gave of their time to support the judging process. 

Whilst such shows have to announce winners, I want to take this opportunity to recognise everyone who contributes to the brilliant media landscape we have in Yorkshire. We are living through such extraordinary times, and television plays a very crucial role in supporting us, in informing us and in entertaining us. We are so lucky in this region to have such talented production and post-production teams, and innovative production companies, all of whom have ensured production has continued, in a safe and covid-secure way. In that regard – everyone is a winner.

Enjoy the show, many congratulations to all who submitted, were nominated and who will win. I look forward to us being back together again in 2021. Until then, take care and stay safe and well.
