ITV has released the first trailer for the new police drama Wild Bill, staring Rob Lowe (The West Wing), as high-flying US cop Bill Hixon, who is appointed as chief constable of the East Lincolnshire police force.

The six-part drama follows Lowe as he lands in Boston, Lincolnshire, along with his troubled 14-year-old daughter Kelsey, both whom are running from a painful past.

The new move is anything but easy, as the trailer shows Lowe struggling to win the trust of the local community, his own frustrations bubbling over as he curses what he calls a “godforsaken cabbage patch”.

The show is created by David Griffiths (The Hunted) with Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble (Silent Witness) on board as lead writers. Griffiths, Appleton and Keeble act as executive producers, with Lowe both producing and starring.

The series also stars Rachael Stirling (The Bletchley Circle) as Lady Mary Harborough, Angela Griffin (Ordinary Lies) as local journalist Lisa Cranston, Tony Pitts (Peaky Blinders) as crime commissioner Keith Metcalfe and Bronwyn James (Harlots) as DC Muriel Yeardsley.

The drama is set to air this June on ITV.
