The platinum-selling singer-songwriter will join confirmed artists such as the Kaiser Chiefs, Craig David, Emeli Sandé and The 1975 at the event on December 12.

Also revealed today are the musicians shortlisted for the new BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year Award.

The nominees are:

• Christine and the Queens performing Sorry (Beyoncé cover) on 13 Sept 2016
• Craig David performing Love Yourself (Justin Bieber cover) on 7 January 2016
• Emeli Sandé performing Hurts on 16 September 2016
• The 1975 Live Lounge Symphony performing What Makes You Beautiful (One Direction cover) on 30 September 2016
• Usher performing Climax on 2 September 2016

Now in its third year, the BBC Music Awards 2016 will feature four other awards: BBC Music British Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year and BBC Radio 2 Album of the Year.

Shortlists for these categories will be announced soon and public voting for the Song of the Year award will take place on Wednesday 7 December.

All award-winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony, taking place at the ExCeL London from 8.30-10pm.

Fearne Cotton, Claudia Winkleman and Gemma Cairney will host the event.
