Apple TV+ has commissioned a second series of Criminal Record.

Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It) and Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife) return as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Detective Sergeant June Lenker.

Series one put June and Daniel on a collision course, as the former begun to develop suspicions over a case the latter investigated years ago. At the beginning of series two, a clash between protestors and the far right leaves a young man dead. June is the senior officer on the scene, and – riddled with guilt – becomes hellbent on identifying the killer and putting them behind bars. Her inquiries lead her back to Daniel, who now works in police intelligence. If June wants to get justice for the man she feels she let down, she will have to make a dangerous deal with her ex-colleague.

The series is filmed in London, and produced by Tod Productions and STV Studios. Chris Sussman is joining the show as an executive producer for series two.

“I’m thrilled that Apple has commissioned a second series of Criminal Record. I’m looking forward to working with Paul, our wonderful actors led by Peter and Cush, and our brilliant team again,” said fellow executive producer Elaine Collins.
