Amazon UK has announced the cast for the new thriller The Devil’s Hour, written by Tom Moran.
Jessica Raine (Patrick Melrose) and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) will the lead the mind-bending six-part series. They will be joined by Nikesh Patel (Starstruck), Meera Syal (Yesterday), Alex Ferns (Chernobyl), Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Barbara Marten (Sanctuary), Thomas Dominique (Blood Drive), Rhiannon Harper-Rafferty (The Donmar Warehouse's All-Female Shakespeare Trilogy), John Alastair (Swimming with Men), Sandra Huggett (Coronation Street) and newcomer Benjamin Chivers.
Raine stars as Lucy, a mother who finds herself waking every night at exactly 3:33am. This time is known as the devil’s hour, when inexplicable things occur. Lucy lives in a house haunted by the echoes of a life that isn’t her own, with her eight-year-old son who is emotionless and withdrawn, and her mother, who speaks to empty chairs.
When Lucy’s name becomes unexplainably linked to a series of brutal murders in the area, she soon begins to piece together the answers that have evaded her for all these years.
Capaldi plays a reclusive nomad, driven by a murderous obsession. When a police manhunt led by detective Ravi Dhillon (Patel) begins to close in, he becomes the prime target.
The Devil’s Hour will be produced by Hartswood Films, the company behind Sherlock and Dracula. Johnny Allan (The Irregulars) and Isabelle Sieb (Vigil) will direct the series.
Filming has commenced in London and Farnborough.
