To celebrate the anniversary, RTS London commissioned this special programme looking at the origins and design of the building, and what it meant to BBC staff and viewers in the 1960s and beyond, to be premiered on the day of the anniversary at 4pm.
The programme features archive footage, and contributions from Robert Seatter, the Head of BBC History; Phillip Schofield, TV Presenter past and present at TVC; and Roger Bunce, TVC Studio Cameraman in the 1960s.
An accompanying resource of links to other materials of interest is also available.
Producers: Carol Owens and Phil Barnes
Note: RTS London would like to pay tribute to our wonderful TVC60 interviewee, former cameraman Roger Bunce, who sadly passed away on August 29th 2021. Roger joined the BBC in 1965, went freelance in 2001, and continued working until 2010. He was a studio trailblazer and enthusiastic supporter of TV heritage, and a great contributor both personally and professionally. He will be sorely missed.
