Join us for an exclusive preview of new BBC One comedy drama Rain Dogs, an unconventional love story between a working-class single mum, her ten year old daughter, and a privileged gay man. From the brilliant new voice of author Cash Carraway, it’s about a dysfunctional family on the fringes of society attempting to go straight in a crooked world.
Rain Dogs is made by award winning production company Sid Gentle Films (Killing Eve) from its new development and production arm, Sid Wild, based in Bristol at The Bottle Yard Studios. It was filmed at The Bottle Yard and on location across the city with assistance from Bristol Film Office.
It stars Daisy May Cooper (This Country, Am I Being Unreasonable, Witchfinder) as Costello Jones, Jack Farthing (Spencer, The Lost Daughter, Chloe) as Selby, Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo (Alex Rider, Chevalier, Doctor Who) as Gloria Duke and Fleur Tashjian in her debut role as Iris Jones.
Rain Dogs chronicles the life of Costello Jones (Daisy May Cooper), a devoted mother who wants more for her young daughter, Iris (Fleur Tashjian). As she hustles to survive, Costello leans on Selby (Jack Farthing), Iris’ pseudo father (and Costello’s pseudo soulmate), and Gloria (Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo), the duo’s loyal yet chaotic godmother/best friend. Together they form a makeshift swaggerous family bound by a complex but deep-rooted love and defiance towards a system built against them.
Rain Dogs is an eight part series from Sid Wild for BBC/HBO and will air on BBC One in early April.
RTS West of England, in association with The Bottle Yard Studios and Bristol Film Office, will screen the first episode (30 mins) followed by a Q&A with producer Ciara Mcllvenny and cast members Jack Farthing (Selby) and Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo (Gloria).
