LIEVEN VERMAELE
CEO & CO-FOUNDER - SDNsquare
Lieven Vermaele started his career in 2000 at the Belgian Flemish public broadcaster VRT, where he played a key role in developing and implementing the organization’s digital strategy. In 2007, Lieven was appointed Director of Technology and Innovation at the EBU - Eurovision, the European Broadcasting Union. At the EBU he was responsible for a team of engineers investigating and researching state-of-the art broadcast related technologies including file-based networked environments. Since September 2013, Lieven is the CEO of SDNsquare, a start-up company he cofounded in 2011. Based on innovative technologies like Software Defined Networking, the company provide storage and network systems that optimise efficiency, reliability and manageability for the media, medical and military domain. He holds a master’s degree in Science Engineering from the University of Ghent and several postgraduate degrees.
