Emmerdale has been a mainstay of British television for 45 years.
For 45 years Emmerdale has been one of Britain's best-loved shows. After an extraordinary few months during which it has won two major awards and critical acclaim with its heart-wrenching stories and unique characters, the RTS Yorkshire is celebrating its continuing success.
This event will explore just what makes Emmerdale such an enduring hit and provide you with a chance to hear from those behind the scenes at Britain's best-loved village. The show's producers, directors and story-liners will talk about just how much work goes into making a prime time hit. How are the stories developed? What are the challenges of filming on the Harewood Estate? And how do you keep a show about the Dales relevant for a modern and demanding TV audience? There will also be a chance for members of the audience to ask questions, so come prepared.
Joining us for the evening will be:-
Iain Macleod - Series Producer
Maxine Alderton - Writer
Duncan Foster - Director
Gillian Slight - Designer
Nader Mabadi - Scheduler
We expect this to be a very popular event, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. This event will be free to RTS members.
Also, in the afternoon, there will be free TV career workshops for students and recent graduates with members of the Emmerdale team. Craft areas covered will include; make-up and costume, story/script development, prop-building and production design and camera/sound work.
