Early Evening

RTS NW is delighted to present an evening to celebrate 63 Up, the ground breaking documentary series.

“Give me the child for the first seven years and I will show you the man.” Inspired by this Jesuit motto, the Up series began in 1964, following a group of people drawn from startlingly different backgrounds who have allowed television cameras to drop into their lives at seven-year intervals ever since.

Led by director Michael Apted throughout the decades, this acclaimed series has now reached 63 Up, providing an illuminating perspective on whether or not the course of our adult lives is set by our earliest influences and the social class in which we’re raised.

The Up series began in 1964 at Granada TV and is made in MediaCity by Shiver.

We are delighted to invite you to join Claire Lewis (Producer), George Jesse Turner (Director of Photography), Kim Horton (Editor) and key contributor Sue Sullivan for a screening of episode one and to discuss an issue that’s as pressing and relevant as it was in the 60s.

Hosted by Lucy Meacock (ITV Granada Reports)

This is a free event and as such tickets will go fast. if you no longer require your tickets please return them via Eventbrite.
