From the ghosts at Button House organising a panto to Doc Martin getting stuck in a snow storm in his emotional final outing, Christmas Day promises a host of festive TV treats.
Ghosts
BBC One, 7:25pm
In this Christmas special, with Mike and Alison heading off to Mike’s parents’ house, the ghosts at Button House are keen to repay Alison’s generosity when they discover she has left each of them a gift in the library, with strict instructions not to open them until the couple return.
In a race against the clock until the pair are back, the ghostly gang must come up with a surprise Christmas present fit to impress.
Strictly Come Dancing
BBC One, 5:10pm
Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly reunite to host the annual Christmas special of Strictly, which will see Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts, DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams, podcaster Rosie Ramsey, Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb, CBBC presenter George Webster and former Corrie star Alexandra Mardell attempt to impress the judges with their festive dance routines.
The episode will also see the return of the legendary former Strictly judge Bruno Tonioli for an extra-special performance.
The Festive Pottery Throw Down
Channel 4, 7:50pm
In the show’s first-ever festive special, Siobhan McSweeney (Derry Girls) presents as actors James Fleet (The Vicar of Dibley) and Sunetra Sarker (Ackley Bridge), comedian Jenny Éclair and presenter and Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing attempt to spin some magic at their pottery wheels.
Their task: create an illuminated Christmas scene using the slab building technique, before throwing mulled wine tumblers at the wheel. They’ll need to impress judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller in order to be crowned the Christmas champion.
Doc Martin
ITV, 9:05pm
Portwenn’s favourite grumpy medic is back for Doc Martin’s final farewell, as it departs with a Christmas Special. In the final episode, Martin Clunes’ doc appears to be the Christmas Scrooge, pulling Leonard the Santa impersonator, played by guest star Ron Cook, (Andor), out of his grotto due to a mysterious rash that has flared up.
As he crashes his car in the snow, Doc must make it back to town in time for the Christmas parade organised by his wife Louisa (Caroline Catz).
