BBC One has announced new Christmas comedy Click & Collect starring Stephen Merchant (The Office) and Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing).
Merchant and Chaudry play two mismatched neighbours who drive cross country to collect a toy for a little girl’s Christmas wish.
Andrew Bennet (Merchant) realises on Christmas Eve that he has forgotten the one gift his daughter really wanted, Sparklehoof the Unicorn Princess. Struggling to track one down last minute, his annoying and over-friendly neighbour Dev D’Cruz (Chaudhry) finds the last one in the UK.
Unfortunately, it's 300 miles away in Carlisle and the pair embark on a journey to collect it in time to save Christmas.
Andrew and Dev must overcome obstacles along the way and avoid driving each other crazy.
“Every year, my family watch the big Christmas TV specials and my dad falls asleep half way through,” said Merchant of his role.
“This year I’m very excited to be starring in a big Christmas TV special that my dad can fall asleep half way through.”
Chaudhry added: “I’ve been a huge fan of Stephen’s work for many years so it’s a dream to be working with him! I’m also over the moon about the that my ten-year-old sister can finally watch something I’m in that’s family friendly.”
Filming for Click & Collect starts this month.
