Sally Wainwright, creator of Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax, will write and direct a new one-off drama for BBC One based on the lives of the Bronte sisters.

To Walk Invisible will star Jonathan Pryce as the novelists' father, and reunite Happy Valley actors Charlie Murphy and Adam Nagaitis as sister and brother Anne and Branwell Bronte.

"I am such an admirer of Sally Wainwright that if she were filming the phone book I would want to be in it!" said Pryce. "Her film will be a characteristically honest look at the whole Bronte family."

The feature-length film will be shot on location in Yorkshire from the start of next month, and features War & Peace's Chloe Pirrie as Emily Bronte and Finn Atkins as remaining sister Charlotte.

Wainwright has won numerous awards for her writing, having begun her career working on The Archers before moving on to Coronation Street. Her last feature was 2013's The Last Witch about the dysfunctional relationship between two magical sisters.
