Prue Leith and Dr Rupy Aujla are joining forces to transform the cooking and food shopping habits of British families in new Channel 4 series, Cook Clever, Waste Less with Prue & Rupy.
The four-part series will serve up new ideas for meals and reducing food waste, helping our pockets and the planet.
In the UK, the equivalent of 1 in 6 shopping bags or 1 in 8 prepared meals end up in the bin, and most of this waste is destined for landfill or incineration. If this food waste was a country, it would be the third biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions.
Hellmann’s will sponsor the series as part of their mission to enable British households to “make great taste and less waste,” highlighting the simple ways we can all make a difference.
Each episode will see the cooks visit a different British family, first learning how food is wasted in their household before teaching them easy, delicious recipes using store cupboard staples and low budget meal planning.
Dr Aujla said: “I'm super proud to have been part of a show alongside Prue teaching families from all backgrounds the simple steps towards wasting less food, saving money and improving their health.
“We could all do with wasting less, and instead of simply highlighting the problem, I believe that by creating a joyful and exciting programme full of tips and recipes we also motivate and inspire people watching at home.”
