Netflix has announced the return of Top Boy for a second series, with production due to start this spring.
Accompanying the announcement was a picture of the screenplay for the first episode entitled ‘Killing No Murder’, written by Ronan Bennett.
It will technically be the fourth series after the first two were billed as Top Boy: Summerhouse when Netflix revived the franchise last year.
Netflix also confirmed that Dushane (Ashley Walters), Sully (Kane Robinson), Jamie (Michael Ward) and Shelley (Simbi Ajikawo, better known as Little Simz) will all return.
The last series ended with a big twist as Dushane offered an olive branch to Jamie when visiting him in prison. Dushane said he would help secure his release as an ultimatum, as long as Jamie works for him on the outside.
It was also revealed that drug addicts Sarah and Lee were in fact undercover officers investigating Dushane, which could prove to jeopardise his position as current top boy.
Long-time endorser and now executive producer Drake was largely responsible for the return of the series and guaranteeed an international audience for its re-release. It is currently unclear as to his involvement in the coming series.
Production will begin this spring for series two of Top Boy.
