RTS Wales hosted ‘Meet The Makers’ for the second year running. The event was held on Thursday 20th October, at The Waterguard, Cardiff Bay.
Once again it proved to be a huge hit, with an amazing response from both Production Companies and Freelancers based in Wales.
‘Meet The Makers’ is an annual event which aims to help build and strengthen the link between Production Companies / Commissioners and the Freelancers based in and around the Welsh Capital.
There was a fantastic line up on the panel from Commissioners; Managing Directors of Production Indies to the Chief Exec. of Ffilm Cymru Wales. Companies included BBC Wales; Boomerang; Wildflame Productions; Green Bay Media; Wales & Co. and ie ie Productions.
It was a unique opportunity for Freelancers to meet the top people behind the productions produced here in Wales. Plus a chance to quiz each member of the panel about new productions and what’s in store for 2017!
Rhodri Talfan Davies, Director of BBC Wales, also joined the panel and talked in detail about the future plans for BBC Wales and its big move to Capital Square in the heart of the city centre.
RTS Wales hope to organise another ‘Meet The Makers’ in the New Year, this time targeted at the Film and Drama side of the Welsh Media Industry.
In an interview with RTS Wales Administrator, Hywel Wiliam, Development Assistant Producer, Daniel Cripps, reveals how he got a job with Boomerang after attending our last Meet the Makers event.
According to Daniel, "I owe a lot to my college and to the RTS for my career success to date".
