BBC Two has announced a new three-part documentary series, Laura Kuenssberg: State of Chaos, which will see the RTS Award-winning journalist explore some of the most dramatic political events seen in a generation.

As the BBC's political editor from 2015 to 2022, Kuenssberg held a ringside seat for the Brexit referendum, the pandemic, and all the resignations, elections and prorogations the UK has seen throughout the years.

This new series will see her take a look back at the toxicity of the period, both in public and behind the political scenes, and offer her own reflections.

Beginning with the referendum result and ending with the downfall of Liz Truss, Kuenssberg will consult the cabinet ministers and senior officials who were in the room when such momentous decisions were made for "candid and revealing interviews."

Some of the interviewees, including senior civil servants and Number 10 staff, have never spoken before.

Kuenssberg said: "The referendum result triggered years of turbulence in our politics – chaos inside the Conservative Party and Parliament, with Prime Ministers coming and going in quick succession.

"I want to take viewers behind the scenes to show them what really happened, and ask whether after all the craziness, politics will ever be the same again?"

Laura Kuenssberg: State of Chaos will start on Monday 11 September on BBC Two at 9.00pm, and will be available on BBC iPlayer at 6.00am.
