Jonathan Creek is back. Alan Davies will return to play super sleuth Creek in a 90 minute special, investigating the macabre past of Daemons’ Roost and its dungeon.

Legend has it that in the 19th century, sorcerer and former owner of Daemons’ Roost, Jacob Surtees would summon the powers of Hell to his home to terrorise and subjugate his victims.

A hundred and fifty years later, the house is occupied by Nathan Clore, a veteran horror film director with secrets of his own.

With his health failing, Clore summons his stepdaughter Alison to Daemons’ Roost to share with her the chilling truth of what happened to her family there.

However, when Clore suffers a debilitating stroke just days before Alison is due to arrive, Jonathan Creek is called upon to help.

“Jonathan Creek finds himself in real danger,” says Alan Davies. “It’s the spookiest episode ever.”

As the story unfolds, the terrible rituals that were performed by Jacob Surtees are frighteningly revived with terrifying consequences.

Harry Potter star Warwick Davis joins the cast of the new episode, written by David Renwick and directed by Sandy Johnson.

Shane Allen, Controller of Comedy Commissioning at the BBC said, “You can see the influence of David’s unique blend of dark comedy and crime drama across television since the debut of this show nearly 20 years ago, as it remains a pioneering class act and evergreen favourite with the audience.”
