Earlier in April, Jinkx Monsoon, Queen of Queens in the All Stars season of RuPaul's Drag Race, has become the latest addition to the ever-growing cast of Russell T Davies' new-look Doctor Who.

The announcement comes in light of Monsoon's sell out run on Broadway, where she made her debut as Matron 'Mama' Morton in the thoroughfare's longest-running show, Chicago.

It was a historic moment for the LGBTQIA+ community, as she was the first ever drag queen to play the role and broke box office records in the process.

Now the BBC has announced that she will play "the Doctor's most powerful enemy yet," with a first look image of her evil likeness in a suitably wicked outfit.

Monsoon will be facing off with Ncuti Gatwa's fifteenth Doctor and his sidekick, Millie Gibson's Ruby Sunday.

Also antagonising the Doctor will be Neil Patrick Harris, who Davies also called "the greatest enemy the Doctor has ever faced." More information on either enemy is yet to be announced, but it sounds like the Doctor will have his work cut out for him in the new series.

Speaking of which, as filming continues, the BBC has announced that the TARDIS has landed in the 1960s. First look photos of the related episode(s) see the Doctor and Ruby resplendent in groovy 60s clobber.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One in November 2023. Disney+ will be the exclusive home for new series outside of the UK and Ireland.
