Each series so far has followed one investigation into unearthed human remains. Series five saw the introduction of DCI Jess James, played by the 2018 RTS Programme award winner Sinéad Keenan (Little Boy Blue). Keenan will reprise her role in series six alongside Sanjeev Bhaskar (Sandylands), who plays DI Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan.

The detective partnership will be injected with a fresh dynamic. Having worked through a fraught relationship in series five, this new chapter will have Jess and Sunny solving mysteries with a new comradery.

Series five attracted eight million viewers on average per episode and is currently the most popular show on ITVX.

The drama will continue to be written by the creator Chris Lang, whose previous writing credits include The Hookup Plan, and The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe.

Producing alongside Lang will be Mainstreet Pictures, whose productions include Her and I Want My Wife Back.

Further casting is expected to be announced closer to filming.
