RTS Cymru Wales is delighted to announce that nominations are open for the upcoming annual awards which will take place next April.
As ever, it is a celebration of upcoming talent in the form of its Student Awards, alongside nods to the programme makers in our industry here in Wales.
Student categories include animation, drama, and factual, with entries for both undergraduate and postgraduate and we are very excited to introduce a host of new categories for our industry awards.
As well as the return of well-established categories such as Drama and Children’s, we are now offering more opportunities for those making factual television by offering separate categories for Entertainment, Documentary, Sports Documentary and Short-form News items.
We will also be celebrating on screen talent in the form of best Welsh Presenter and Drama Performance.
For the first time, we will be commemorating important roles that often go unnoticed, such as Production Manager and Location Manager.
And to reflect the way television is now being consumed, we have refined our Digital Category, and also included Multiskilled Journalism.
Edward Russell, Chair RTS Cymru Wales said
"Our post-pandemic event in 2022 felt almost like a reset for the Awards, with many being introduced to what we do for the first time. We are really pleased to be expanding our categories this year and I’m particularly excited about how we are approaching factual programming, which is increasingly important in our region.
At the heart of what we do is offering opportunities for those new to our industry, as well as celebrating some of the roles that don’t always get the attention they deserve, and I hope that our 2023 Awards show will help shine a light on those who deserve to be seen."
We are very pleased to be returning to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama for the Awards event on 21 April 2023 and details of how to attend will follow.
