Ahead of the return of Inside No. 9, Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton's RTS Award-winning anthology series, the BBC has named the stars joining the cast.

Shearsmith and Pemberton have written five more standalone episodes that blend horror, thriller, drama and comedy with their signature: blindsiding twists.

As before, each episode will feature a new cast, and on the line-up are Amanda Abbington (Sherlock), Anita Dobson (EastEnders), Asim Chaudhry (People Just Do Nothing), Phil Daniels (House of the Dragon), Claire Rushbrook (My Mad Fat Diary), Frances Barber (Camille), Leon Herbert (Salome's Last Dance), Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey) Menyee Lai (Stay Close), Moyo Akandé (Guilt), Robin Askwith (Bless This House), Samantha Spiro (Sex Education), Sheila Reid (Benidorm) and Ayda Kiiza.

Shearsmith and Pemberton said: “We are thrilled to invite viewers inside a new set of funny and frightening number 9s; take your shoes off, make yourself at home and switch your devices to Do Not Disturb. Well it might work…”

Gregor Sharp, Commissioning Editor at the BBC, said: “Reece and Steve are masters of their craft and it’s a delight to see such a brilliant line up of guest stars joining them for another series of perfectly formed dark comedy masterpieces.”

Inside No. 9 is coming to BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in Spring 2023.
