ITV has announced the names of the celebrities returning for the all-star I’m Celebrity spin off series.
The celebrities braved the Australian Jungle, but now their challenges will be bigger, tougher, and their environment entirely more unforgiving in South Africa.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has been a British staple since 2002, with over 250 celebs competing for the title of King or Queen of the jungle since its inception. Ant and Dec have swapped their usual Australian backdrop for the South African jungle and brought back some of the most iconic celebrity contestants who will battle to win the first ever title of “I’m a Celebrity Legend”.
I’m a Celebrity… South Africa will nod to the original, but will differ from the show we are used to, with ITV promising “a uniquely different series so viewers can look forward to lots of unexpected twists and turns”.
Celebrities taking part include Diversity member and Britain’s Got Talent winner Jordan Banjo, Carol Vorderman, Coronation Street’s Helen Flanagan, former Royal Butler Paul Burrell, boxing champion Amir Khan, Olympic javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread, cricketer Phil Tufnell, supermodel Janice Dickinson and Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder. More unconfirmed famous faces are yet to be announced.
As this is a pre-recorded series, the spin-off will not rely on the public vote in order to cast the celebrities out of the jungle, but rather will rely on an old favourite, bush tucker challenges. These classically involve being buried in a small space with some bugs, or eating the nether regions of an animal. Rather than completing the trials for food, the celebrities will have to complete these tasks in order to secure their future in the jungle.
I’m a Celebrity… South Africa will start in April 2023 on ITV1 and ITVX.
