Summer may be coming to a close and the nights drawing in, but Channel 4 has announced that The Great British Bake Off is back to see us through.
12 more amateur bakers will enter the tent under the beady eyes of judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood, hoping to win them over and perhaps even receive the honour of a Hollywood handshake. Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding are also back to present and pester the contestants.
The usual schedule sees the field narrowed down to just three bakers by week 10, at which point the finalists will battle it out in the hopes of winning the glass cake stand.
Giuseppe Dell’Anno beat Chigs and Crystelle to win the series in 2021, a year in which Italy seemed to win everything. At the time, Dell’Anno said: "I feel it’s been a great year for Italy. I truly can’t believe it or take it in, this has made me so incredibly happy to be a Britalian. Dell’Anno is my surname which translates in English to 'of the year' – and I feel this has certainly has been my year."
The thirteenth edition of the baking competition will begin on Tuesday 13 September at 8.00pm, with episodes airing weekly.
