Channel 5 has announced new show Celebrity Carry on Barging for 2017.
The four-part barging show will see well-known faces take two narrow boats and a dog along Britain's canals to sample life at a slower pace.
Nigel Havers, Debbie McGee, Lorraine Chase and Simon Callow face obstacles and hilarity as they commandeer a course down two of Britain’s most favourite canals, the Kennet and Avon and the Llangollen.
Taking a step back from the limelight to sample life in the slow lane, the four bargers pair up to enjoy their first-ever canal boat holidays.
The celebs must learn how to navigate their boats - and each other - and get to grips with steering and mooring as they navigate their way through the British waterways.
Faced with navigating narrow bridges, traversing tight corners and cooking in cramped quarters, will Nigel and Debbie's experience on larger boats mean for smooth sailing? And Simon and Lorainne's boating experience is the least of their worries when they are faced with a bevy of swans.
As they take in the views, adjust to the pace and experience nature and the countryside at close hand, they will meet some vibrant characters and have some laughs along the way.
Greg Barnett, Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor for Factual Entertainment said: “Celebrity Carry on Barging is an enjoyable and entertaining jaunt through the countryside canals of Britain, with four unexpected and famous faces paired together to experience a unique barging adventure. If you’ve ever wondered whether this sort of holiday is right for you, this series will either tempt you to try canal boating or convince you to stick to the Costa Del Sol."
Nicky Taylor, Executive Producer for Spun Gold added: “In two cramped narrow boats, the dynamics of our duos are magnified as they experience life together at four miles an hour. Will they be at one with nature or will it drive them wild? Actually, the bigger question is - will they drive each other wild?”
