The arrival of Disney+ has led to plenty of new TV series from the Marvel Universe. If you can’t decide which superhero to watch battling evil forces, here are some of our favourites.

Loki

Disney +

Known as the God of Mischief, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) finds himself in front of the Time Variance Authority, an organisation outside of time and space, after stealing the tesseract, a cube which contains one of six Infinity Stones that possess unlimited energy.

His actions lead to the creation of a new timeline and an alternate version of Loki is faced with an ultimatum: Loki can either fix the timeline and stop a threat facing the universe or be erased from existence completely.

Despite having no choice but to go along with the missions he is set, Loki is not one to follow the rules and is carefully plotting away in the background.

Hawkeye

Disney +

While in New York trying to adjust to life after Thanos exterminated half of all living things in the universe, Clint/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) meets young archer Kate (Hailee Steinfeld).

Kate is a massive Hawkeye fan and becomes Clint’s protegee, destined to take over the mantle of Hawkeye.

Clinton and Kate team up to unravel a criminal conspiracy so that Clint can achieve his number one mission to get back to his family for Christmas.

Florence Pugh reprises her role as Yelena Belova and Vera Farmiga stars as Kate’s mother Eleanor.

Wandavision

Disney +

Wandavision is set three weeks after the events of Avengers Endgame which saw the ultimate battle against Thanos for the future of the universe.

Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are living a seemingly perfect life together in the idyllic suburban town of Westview in New Jersey, while trying to hide their true nature.

The pair’s surroundings begin to move through different decades and they start to experience various television tropes, which makes them realise things are not as they seem.

The show starts off in black and white before transitioning to colour and includes characters like their nosy neighbour Agnes (Kathryn Hahn), who is hiding a dark secret, and Ralph (Evan Peters), a resident posing as Wanda’s dead twin brother Pietro.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Disney +

Six months after Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), also known as Falcon, is handed the mantle of Captain America, he finds himself teamed up with Bucky Barnes, also known as the Winder Soldier.

Initially, Wilson struggles with the pressure of upholding the reputation of Captain America and surrenders the shield to the Smithsonian Institution, leading to John Walker (Wyatt Russell) being appointed as the new Captain America.

Barnes struggles to reconcile his murderous past along with losing his best friend and working out what kind of man he wants to be.

Wilson starts to question if he, as a black man, can represent a country that does not represent him.

What If…?

Disney +

The animated anthology series explores alternative timelines in the multiverse, showing various scenarios that could have occurred if major moments from the Marvel films had played out differently.

The series is narrated by Jeffrey Wright as the Watcher, a member of the alien Watcher race that is above everything else.

Each episode sees different version of characters brought to life, with many of the actors from the films reprising their roles.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD

Disney +

SHIELD is the peacekeeping and spy agency operating within a world of superheroes and handles paranormal and superhuman threats to international security.

The first series sees SHIELD agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) put together a small team of agents to handle strange new cases.

It is soon revealed that terrorist group Hydra have infiltrated SHIELD and Coulson must rebuild the organisation.

The discovery of a superhuman race called the Inhumans also leads to Coulson assembling a team together to embark on a secret mission.

Jessica Jones

Netflix

Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is not your typical superhero, she is rough around the edges, sarcastic and not here to be anyone’s saviour.

Gifted with superhuman strength, Jones has used her skills to open up a detective agency, while battling with her own past demons, numbing the pain with alcohol.

Struggling with the symptoms of PTSD, due to the trauma caused by Kilgrave (David Tennant), a killer with the ability to control people’s minds, Jones is trying to rebuild her life.

Jones relies on fellow superhuman Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who has superhuman strength and unbreakable skin, and her adoptive sister Trish (Rachel Taylor), who has found fame as a radio host.

Daredevil

Netflix

Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is a lawyer by the day and hero crime fighter Daredevil at night.

After being blinded as a young boy, Murdock uses his heightened senses to fight crime on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen in New York.

As a strong catholic, Murdock struggles to reconcile his violent methods with his moral compass.

With no superhuman powers, Murdock knows that he is not invulnerable and while he tries to believe in and follow the criminal justice system during the day as a lawyer, his alter ego doesn’t play by the same rules.

Murdock is supported in his quest to clean up the streets, by Karen (Deborah Ann Woll), a woman who shares his determination to root out corruption, and Foggy (Elden Henson), his best friend who is ready to fight for the “little guy” with him.

Agent Carter

Disney +

In 1946, Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is still reeling from losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers aka Captain America, when she is relegated back to the office after men start returning from the war.

When an old acquaintance, Howard Stark, is framed for selling deadly weapons to enemies of the United States, Stark turns to Carter to help him clear his name and find the real culprits.

Assisted by Stark’s butler Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy), Carter must return to the field and dispose of the weapons before something tragic happens.

Luke Cage

Netflix

Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is a former convict who possesses superhuman strength and unbreakable skin who now spends his days fighting crime and corruption.

After attempting to rebuild a quiet new life in Harlem, Cage is forced out of the shadows and embroiled in a battle for the heart of the city.

As he tries to move forward, he is confronted with ghosts from his past which won’t let him go.

Plus, he finds himself at war with the gangs who control organised crime led by the ruthless Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali).

Legion

Disney +

Legion (Dan Stevens), also known as David Haller, is the mutant son of Charles Xavier.

Due to childhood trauma, he has grown up to be a troubled young man and is diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Shuttled between different psychiatric hospitals for years, Legion has a strange encounter with a fellow psychiatric patient, which makes him confront the possibility that the voices and visions he sees might actually be real.

As he begins to unlock his psychic mutant powers and multiple personalities, Legion must come to terms with a deeply suppressed truth, that he has been haunted his entire life by a powerful malicious parasite called The Shadow King.

Hunted by a secret government agency known as Division 3, Legion must try to piece together his fragmented memories in order to unlock his true power.
