Channel 4 has commissioned new series Hobby Man with host Alex Brooker.
During lockdown many people picked up new hobbies and gave more attention to old ones to keep them busy and active.
The four-part series Hobby Man will follow Brooker as he partners up with some famous faces, including comedian, writer and actor Joe Wilkinson, TV personality Scarlett Moffat, Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas and celebrity chef Andi Oliver.
Every episode will see Brooker and his celebrity friend try to master three hobbies, from the traditional to the more obscure.
For each hobby, the history of how it came to be will be explored, plus the cost, what you need to begin and the different kinds of people you’ll get to meet.
Meeting up with social gatherings, clubs and shows, Brooker travels the length of the country to meet those passionate about their hobbies and why they love them.
Alex Brooker commented: “I’ve realised that I’m now in my late 30s and still only really like the same things as I did when I was 12 – basically football and Ghostbusters. And while most people used lockdown to find new hobbies or carry on their existing ones, I mainly watched children’s TV to keep my kids happy so I’m delighted Channel 4 have made me their Hobby Man!
“It’s been amazing travelling around Britain with our brilliant guests and getting out my comfort zone trying new hobbies. From learning to knit, making my own beer and getting panicked 3000ft in the air in a glider – it’s been some experience!”
Hobby Man will air on Channel 4 later in 2022.
