RTS APPG Lectures

The RTS All Party Parliamentary Group fosters closer links between the RTS and the Houses of Parliament. Organising a variety of events which discuss, shape and highlight key television and media trends and policies, the RTS APPG provides a vehicle for parliamentarians, together with members and patrons of the Royal Television Society, to debate and promote education in the air, science and technology of television and encourage high standards of creativity.

All-Party Parliamentary Group debate. The Future of TV Journalism in an Age of Fake News and Disinformation. 4 December, 2018

Damian Collins MP chaired a panel discussion on the impact of disinformation and fake news on TV journalism.

The panel highlighted that transparency and fact checking will be essential for content platforms maintaining trust with audiences.

On the panel was Jamie Angus, Director of BBC World Service Group, Ben McOwen Wilson, Regional Director of YouTube EMEA Jonathan Thompson, Chief Executive of Digital UK and Deborah Turness, President of NBC News International.

Celebrated naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough will discuss his career in television with journalist Andrew Marr.

At the most recent RTS All-Party Parliamentary Group event, Andrew Marr quizzed Sir David on his life in broadcasting, his work in conservation and his upcoming projects.
