TG4

TG4

TG4 is the Irish language Public Service Broadcaster in Ireland. The channel launched in 1996 and is an independent statutory entity (Teilifís na Gaeilge), based in Conamara in the West of Ireland. 

TG4 is a free-to-air channel, available across all viewing platforms, with a strong viewer base throughout the island of Ireland and worldwide via the TG4 player (www.TG4.ie).   On 08/09/23, TG4 launched a TG4+1 service and a new Irish language children’s channel, Cúla4.  

TG4 is a publisher / broadcaster, which commissions content from the independent production sector across Ireland.  It commissions across a wide range of genres; including music & arts, factual, drama, Children’s and Sport.  TG4 is recognised for its coverage of women’s sport, and is the sponsor and broadcaster of Ladies Gaelic Football (Peil na mBan).    TG4 also supports Irish language film through the CINE4 brand.  Cine4’s An Cailín Ciúin (the Quiet Girl) was nominated for an Academy Award for Best International Feature in 2023.   TG4 can be viewed worldwide on the TG4 player at www.tg4.ie.  

 

Is í TG4 meán náisiúnta seirbhís poiblí na Gaeilge in Éirinn.  Seoladh an cainéal in 1996 agus tá sí ar fáil saor in aisce ar gach mór ardán craolta in Éirinn, agus ar fud an domhain ar an seinnteoir, TG4.ie.  Ar an 08/09/23, seoladh seirbhís TG4+1 agus an chéad chainéal Gaeilge do dhaoine óga, Cúla4.  Déanann TG4 réimse leathan cláracha a choimisiúnú ón earnáil léiriúcháin neamhspleách in Éirinn.  Tá an cainéal aitheanta as an tacaíocht a thugann siad do spórt na mban, agus as urraíocht agus craoladh ar chraobh Peil na mBan.  Tacaíonn TG4 le scannáin as Gaeilge freisin tríd Cine4.  Sa mbliain 2023 bhain Cine4, An Cailín Ciúin ainmniúchán Oscar amach don Scannán Idirnáisiúnta ab Fhearr.
