RTS East Awards 2022

Following much serious consideration we have decided that due to the rising cases of Covid-19 this years RTS East Awards will now be online.

We are extremely disappointed as we had planned a live celebration, however, the health and safety of all of us, our families, friends and colleagues is paramount.

Everything You Needed to Know About Documentary Making

From finding locations and contributors, to tackling thorny issues, getting commissioned for TV and digital platforms, and making headlines with your doc, our panel will talk us through the process from beginning to end.

We'll be covering current affairs and nature documentaries, and our talented panel have worked on documentaries for BBC, Channel 4, AJ+, and others.

Panel

The Fog of War

A panel of BBC, ITN and Sky journalists will examine the challenge of covering the war in Ukraine.

How do they deal with safety issues, access, verifying material, and the difficulties of serving a 24-hour news environment driven by social media and online coverage? All this, while remaining impartial, keeping their sanity, and not falling victim to propaganda.

Speakers:

Paul Adams, Correspondent, BBC World Affairs

Rachel Corp, Editor, ITV News

RTS NW Student Networking Day

The day will cover a range of subjects, to inspire and encourage entry level talent, and will include panel events, workshops and networking opportunities with key industry professionals based in the North West.

Panels will give an overview of entry level roles and offer useful tips and advice, whilst workshops will enable interaction with specialists in a chosen genre or area.

Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Kate Herron and Michael Waldron discuss Loki

Hiddleston left the sell out crowd at a panel discussion hosted by the Royal Television Society Wednesday evening (March 2) hungry for more details but the star of the Marvel show about the god of mischief and chaos, couldn't and wouldn't be drawn. "There is going to be a series two," Hiddleston smiled mischievously. "That's a complete sentence I think. I'll get into real trouble if I say more."
