ScreenSkills — the industry-led skills charity for the screen industries — invites people from across film, TV, games, animation and VFX to its free Mentoring Roadshow in Cardiff on July 17th.

ScreenSkills works across the UK to ensure that film, television (including children's and high-end drama), VFX (visual effects), animation and games have the skills and talent they need.

The Cardiff Mentoring Roadshow aims to inform the creative sector about the ScreenSkills Mentoring Network and how getting involved – as a mentor or a mentee – might benefit your career (whether an industry veteran or a newcomer). There'll also be an opportunity to network with key players from the Welsh industry and experience a mentoring taster session.

This free event is open to all career levels. You don’t need to be an expert to become a mentor, and whether you’re new to the industry, returning after a break (for example, as a parent or carer) or an experienced professional, you could benefit from finding a mentor to share experience and knowledge.

Benefits of mentoring - for both parties - include:

  • Seeing things from another’s perspective
  • Growing your network
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Developing communication skills
  • Learn from the ideas and experiences of someone who is different from you
  • Using your creativity
