In this role, James has full management oversight of all of Viacom’s media networks and related businesses in 36 European countries, including the UK, Russia and the Nordic, CEE and CIS regions, reaching more than 84 million households through more than 108 channels.
Prior to his promotion in January 2017, James was Chief Operating Office for VIMN in the UK, Northern and Eastern Europe and was instrumental in increasing the group’s profits by an average of 15% each year from 2010 onwards.
James played a leading role in planning and executing Viacom’s acquisition of Channel 5 Broadcasting in September 2014.
As COO, he oversaw a variety of centralised functions within VIMN’s operations managed out of the UK, including Strategy, Production, Business and Legal Affairs, Finance, Corporate Communications, Human Resources and Research.
Previously, as Chief Financial Officer, James was responsible for VIMN’s two International Media Centres in London and Amsterdam, servicing play-out for all VIMN channels in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
James joined Viacom in 2001, as Financial Controller for Paramount Pictures, based in Los Angeles before moving to New York in 2006 to take up the same position for MTV Networks International (now VIMN).
