RTS Cymru Wales Presents:
Un Bore Mercher/Keeping Faith – A Tale in Two Languages
This year the CMA is being held in Llanelli from 2 – 4 May, and on 3 May we have a discussion panel event about the highly successful drama series Un Bore Mercher/Keeping Faith. This eight-part series is the second in a season of bilingual dramas premiered back-to-back on S4C and BBC Cymru Wales. It proved very popular on S4C, standing out as one of the channel’s most-watched dramas on-line, and garnering a unique following across the UK. We discuss the success of what has become the most popular show on BBC Wales in 20 years and the most downloaded programme on iPlayer. What goes into creating a bilingual drama series, and does the story transcend language?
Joining executive producer and RTS Wales Chair, Judith Winnan, on the panel will be the Series Producer, Adrian Bate (Vox Pictures), S4C’s Creative Content Director, Amanda Rees, S4C Drama Commissioner, Gethin Scourfield, and Executive Producer of Keeping Faith for BBC Wales, Maggie Russell.
The Celtic Media Festival is supported by broadcast, film, cultural and economic development organisations throughout the Celtic countries. The Festival is an annual three-day celebration of broadcasting, film talent, and excellence, from Scotland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Wales, Cornwall, and Brittany.
A festival pass would normally be needed to attend the festival (costing £140), but through a special arrangement, RTS Members can attend this session for free. (Note: this does not include the lunch that follows the event which is for festival delegates only).
NB: Places are very limited and anyone wishing to attend must RSVP me by Wednesday 2 May at the latest.
Members attending will be given a temporary wristband which should be returned at the end of the session. I would be very grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible if you wish to attend.
RSVP: Hywel Wiliam
