In November 1936, the BBC started its Television Service from Alexandra Palace in North London. It then started to experiment in producing different types of shows be they magazine, drama, light entertainment or factual shows.
Norman Green will introduce the film presentation which will show how television started in 1936 with two rival systems being assessed and then, when a system had been chosen, the types of programmes and the production techniques that the BBC were using in the 1930's up until W.W.II. It will also cover the worlds first outside broadcast, which was of the Coronation of King George VI.
This fascinating talk will take place at The IET, Birmingham on Wednesday 8th November at 6.30pm. Light refreshments will be available at 6pm.
