This award recognises the very best in drama filmed in the region. This award is for fiction or other narrative drama, including docu-drama and online. From serial dramas to one-off specials and returning drama series, this category is open to any drama production where the majority was filmed in the North East and the Border region.
The Judges were looking for high quality story-telling, originality, creativity and technical expertise throughout the production, as well as impressive performances. Appropriateness to the core audience for that broadcast slot was considered. The entry had to satisfy at least 2 of the following 4 criteria:
- 50% of the budget should be spent in the North East and the Border region
- Filmed in the region
- Originated in the region
- Post–produced in the region
Entries were one whole episode from a drama series or the whole of a one-off drama.
