RTS Yorkshire are happy to continue their support of LTU's annual Journalism Week and invite our members to a varied day of talks and debates on Friday 18th November.
Interested in a journalism or media career? You can't afford to miss Leeds Trinity University's Journalism Week. Over four days from 15-18 November, there is the opportunity to listen to, work with, network and learn from a wide range of professionals who are at the top of their profession.
Over the years, Journalism Week has established a reputation for bringing some of the key figures in the industry to Leeds, and this November will be no exception. Channel 4's Alex Thomson will open Journalism Week on Tuesday 15 November, drawing on his experience as Chief Correspondent for one of the UK's most respected news programmes. Alex is the longest-serving on-screen journalist on C4 News since the channel began. In more than 25 years, he's covered over 20 wars; led major investigations and continues to front the programme from around the world.
Joining Alex are a range of high profile journalists from some of the UK's biggest regional and national media outlets. Students will hear from The Times' Digital Strategist Joseph Stashko, Guardian Columnist Erwin James and BBC Sports News Correspondent Richard Conway. There will also be talks from BBC Top Gear's Digital Product Lead, Anthony Dhanendran; ITV News' Diversity Consultant, Vidar Hjardeng; and Sheffield Star Cartoonist, James Whitworth.
The RTS are supporting the final day of teh week which will include talks by Calendar journalists Christine Talbot and Duncan Wood;YEP Football Writer Phil Hay; Richard Conway, BBC Sports News Correspondent and LTU Alumnus Scott Manson who is the Director of Content at OgilvyOne.
