Stewart Purvis CBE is completing his first term as a non-executive director of Channel Four and as an adviser to DCMS on BBC Charter Renewal.
Stewart is a former Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive of ITN, Ofcom Partner for Content and Standards, Visiting Professor of Broadcast Media at the University of Oxford and Professor of Television Journalism at City, University of London.
Among the awards and honours he has received are two BAFTAs and a CBE for services to broadcast journalism. In 2009 he received the Royal Television Society's Gold Medal for an outstanding contribution to television and is one of the RTS’s Vice-Presidents and Chairman of the TV Journalism Awards.
He is the co-author with Jeff Hulbert of When Reporters Cross the Line and Guy Burgess, the Spy Who Knew Everyone and is currently conducting further research into the Cold War for his blog www.profpurvis.com
