Hollywood writer and actor Ricky Gervais returns to his humble beginnings as office manager David Brent in an upcoming film based around the mockumentary character.
Set 15 years on from the events of the original BBC smash The Office, Life on the Road follows the floundering music career of Brent's group Foregone Conclusion.
Financing the tour using his pension fund, and booking session musicians in place of a permanent band, Brent promises to provide the same awkward humour from 2001's The Office which made him famous.
The film also features original music from bands We Are Scientists and Razorlight, as well as songs penned by Ricky Gervais himself.
Gervais, who recently hosted this year's Golden Globe Awards, last appeared as Brent in the YouTube series 'Learn Guitar with David Brent'. He is now recognised among Hollywood's elite after appearing in blockbusters Night at the Museum and The Invention of Lying which he also wrote.
Due for release on 19th August, the film is co-produced by BBC Films and Entertainment One and co-stars Ben Bailey Smith as Brent's musical partner.
