The broadcaster is heading out across the country in a bid to find diverse young talent

Channel 4 has launched a brand new talent search, aimed to attract a diverse range of young talent from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to media jobs.

C4 Pop Up, run by 4Talent and specialist agency MyKindaCrowd, is designed to tackle an increasing skills gap within the creative industries, and demystify the media sector for those who may not have considered a career in the industry.

The programme is the latest initiative from Channel 4's 360° Diversity Charter, designed to help the company be more proactive in encouraging diverse talent to enter the industry, and receive support once on the career ladder.

C4 Pop Up, which launches in Bournemouth on Saturday 9th May, will provide networking opportunities with local creative industries and skills workshops designed to improve attendees' employability in TV and film. Similar events will be held in Norwich, London, Wolverhampton and Preston this year.

Challenges will be set at the C4 Pop Ups, enabling competitiors to work closely with TV commissioners and production companies to produce a tangible project, such as a documentary, to showcase their talents. Winners of the challenge will receive 'life-changing' prizes, such as technical equipment and access to courses.
