Chair of the RTS Veterans Committee and RTS Fellow, Roy Addison has died at the age of 66

Trained as a journalist, Roy entered television in 1972 working as a Press Officer at Thames Television and was responsible for current affairs and documentary programmes including the flagship shows This Week and The World At War. In 1974 he was made deputy head of the Press Office, then Press & Publicity Manager in 1982, and Director of Press & Publicity in 1985, supervising the marketing of the company's flotation on the London Stock Exchange in 1986. He managed the company's defence against the Thatcher Government, following the transmission of Death On The Rock in 1988, and was also personally responsible for a week-long showcase of Thames and its programmes in New York in 1987.

Shortly after setting up his successful PR company in 1991, Roy became Director of Communications for Pearson Television. In his new role he effectively re-branded the company and was responsible for taking the company online. In 2000 he was appointed RTL Group Executive Vice-President, Corporate Communications. With a seat on the Executive Management Board, Roy was responsible for all aspects of external and internal communications, the creation and implementation of a new identity, and the restructuring of the international communications team in Luxembourg.

Since the beginning of 2004 Roy had been working as a consultant in communications with companies in the UK and abroad including the BBC, Belgacom, Satellite and Cable Broadcasters' Group, the John Lewis Partnership and Wendel.

Roy was elected to the RTS Council in 1990. He became the Chair of the RTS Press & PR Group in 1999 and was awarded an RTS fellowship in 2002. In 2007 became Chair of the RTS Veterans Committee, a post he held until his death.
