Spectrum is a valuable resource and everybody wants some.
One of the main reasons for moving from analogue to digital television was so broadcasting spectrum could be used for 4G mobile services. Plans are already afoot for a further tranche of spectrum to be used by mobile in the 2020s.
But will the ever greater hunger for mobile broadband be at the expense of a strong free-to-air digital terrestrial television (DTT) platform, less able to compete with its satellite and cable rivals? And in the long term does it make sense for TV to use the airwaves at all, when it could be provided by superfast broadband?
With an introduction from Theresa Wise (RTS CEO) James Purnell (BBC, Director of Strategy) and Kip Meek (EE Director of Spectrum Strategy) will discuss the present and future issues thrown up by the increasing demands put upon a finite amount of spectrum.
RTS All Party Parliamentary Group Event Sponsored by The Rt Hon Lord Fowler.
