Biographies:

 

Trevor Phillips

Sir Trevor has won the RTS journalism awards three times.  He’s also a Times columnist and was shortlisted for Comment Writer of the Year in 2020.  He is the co-founder and chairman of Webber Phillips, chairman of Green Park Interim and Executive Search and a non-executive director of Mind Gym.

 

He is chairman of Index on Censorship, a senior fellow at Policy Exchange and a vice-president of the RTS.

 

He was previously head of current affairs for London Weekend TV, chair of the London Assembly, chair of the Commission for Racial Equality, chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission and President of the John Lewis Partnership Council.  He was knighted in 2022 for services to equality and human rights.

 

Kamali Melbourne

Kamali began working in television news in 2007 at ITV Central in Birmingham.  He left there to join Channel 4 News and worked as a producer on the 2010 election, the 2011 riots and the 2014 Scottish independence referendum.  Kamali then spent a year shooting business features around Europe for Bloomberg before going to Istanbul as an anchor for TRT World.

 

He returned to the UK in 2021, joining Sky News to present The Early Rundown. In that time, he was on air to break Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, fronted some of the channel’s coverage of the Edinburgh Television Festival and was at Downing Street for the departure of Boris Johnson.

 

He was also a part of Sky’s coverage of the death of the Queen.
