The last few years has seen the rise of the role of an Intimacy Coordinator on film and television sets, but what exactly does the role do, and why it is so vital for productions to have one?

In the wake of reports of #MeToo and on-set sexual harassment and bullying, the role of the Intimacy Coordinator in the film and television industry has become an imperative part of productions creating a safe and comfortable set for actors who are taking part in intimate and sensitive scenes. With producers, broadcasters and streamers more commonly working with intimacy coordinators, the role has continued to evolve over the years.

Leading Intimacy Coordinator Vanessa Coffey, who is known for her work on Outlander, Vikings: Valhalla, Rules of the Game and War of the Worlds, introduces us to the fundamentals of the role and also how that role has developed. Joined by Outlanders’ star Jessica Reynolds, who plays Malva Christie in the latest series, the pair will discuss working together on a variety of scenes, the benefits of having an intimacy coordinator on set, safeguarding talent and providing a comfortable environment, as well as working with different departments across production.

The session will be hosted by Caroline Frost
