The drama follows Anne Lister, dubbed “the first modern lesbian” for having the courage to love and live openly with Ann Walker in the 19^th century.

Since first airing in 2019, the series has inspired many to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery, reassessing their sexuality and coming out to themselves, their children, parents and grandparents.

“This life-affirming film celebrates finding the confidence to make changes in our lives, whatever our age."

The film will follow six women on their journeys, including Yvonne, who only realised she was gay when she watched Gentleman Jack for the first time in her 60s. She has been a Mormon for her whole adult life but having come out, she is now in conflict with her faith.

Sami tried to come out to her mum 10 years ago, but after a hostile response she went straight back into the closet. Reinvigorated by Suranne Jones’ portrayal of Anne Lister, Sami now has the confidence to try again.

Long lost lovers Pauline and Trixie are in their 80s and have not seen each other in 35 years. They felt life as an open lesbian couple was impossible, but thanks to Gentleman Jack, Pauline was spurred into action to track Trixie down.

22-year-old Chichi came out to her parents after watching the series, and is now preparing the reveal to her grandparents.

Isabel and Katie sing in their church choir every weekend and have long dreamed of a religious wedding in the eyes of the Church of England. Having seen Lister and Walker take communion in the drama, they are inspired to fight for it.

These stories will be interwoven with behind-the-scenes footage from the second series of Gentleman Jack, as well as insights from stars Suranne Jones and Sophie Rundle, and writer Sally Wainwright.
