Screening followed by Q & A with Director, David Jackson.
"Like a hurricane, this film hits you...Truly has a heart of gold." - Neil Young, The Hollywood Reporter
Winterlong is the debut feature film from award-winning writer/director David Jackson. Shot in East Sussex, the film stars Francis Magee (Game of Thrones, Britannia) and Doon Mackichan (Smack the Pony, Plebs). Magee plays a solitary (though charming) poacher who must take on new responsibilities when his estranged teenage son is left on the doorstep of his remote caravan home.
David, whose professional television work includes, among others, No Angels for Channel 4 and the groundbreaking Clocking Off for BBC One, winner of a Bafta and an RTS Best Drama Series Award, will be in conversation with Fiona Ryder from RTS East for a Q&A after the screening to discuss the transition from TV drama to feature film production.
Winterlong premiered at the 2018 Edinburgh International Film Festival earning a nomination for the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film. EIFF Festival Director, Mark Adams, praised an ‘excellent’ Francis Magee, calling the film ‘a striking new drama’.
