Joint presentation: Visit to U105

Wednesday 8th March 2006

The evening began with a presentation by John Rosborough, MD U105.

John gave a talk on the beginning of radio, the ‘British Broadcasting Company’ up to the present day radio station we all know, showing slides of the old radio cabinet styles – dial and knobs – up to the present digital menu driven radio sets. This was followed by an overview of the bid to win the license, showing the extensive research which was carried out regarding audience expections from this new radio service for Belfast and the surrounding area. Due to the large attendance our audience was split into two groups and each in turn had a detailed tour of the U105 studios while the remaining group had a ‘working buffet’ - a brief overview of the signal after it left the studio and its eventual arrival at the listener. This was a well attended event. The finger buffet was excellent and we thank John and his staff at U105 for a superb evening…
