The RTS Southern Centre is organising a visit to Broadcasting House in London. We visted BH previously, but this was before the new East wing was opened. Now complete, this 80,000 square metre structure provides state-of-the-art, digital broadcast facilities for staff in Television, Radio (including the World Service), News and Online. At the heart of the building is the largest live newsroom in Europe.
Television news and current affairs started the phased move from Television Centre in September 2012. The BBC's television news output across it's various channels commenced broadcasting in HD from the new studios at Broadcasting House on March 18th 2013, the new news operation occupying a floor space much larger than was previously available at TC.
This is your opportunity to visit this new cutting edge facility and see it for yourself.
The visit is on SUNDAY 15th September 2013 at 3:30pm (only weekends are possible for a tour), and is limited to 25 persons, so it will be on a first-come first-served basis. Entrance is restricted to adults, or children from 12 years of age upwards. Anyone wishing to attend will need to register in advance for security reasons (see tab above). Attendees will need to make their own way to BH in plenty of time for the commencement of the tour at 3:30pm.
