Mark Davey
Born in Belfast, Mark got his start as Ulster Television’s newsroom runner in 1984 before moving to ITN’s Belfast Bureau in 1990. His move coincided with the introduction of ‘multi-skilling’ - combining the roles of camera, sound, lighting, and video editing which allowed him to gain experience across all aspects of creating a news story.
The Troubles dominated the news agenda - bombings, shootings, and street disturbances, before the nascent peace process of the mid-nineties. As the violence at home waned, Mark took on more work abroad, covering conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Israel, and Lebanon.
In 2008 he moved to join the ITN Asia Bureau in Beijing, then ten years later to the U.S. office in Washington DC. On January 6th he, reporter Robert Moore and producer Sophie Alexander were the only TV news team inside the Capitol building as it was being stormed.

His current slate at True North includes ‘The 80’s Pop Map of Britain and Ireland’ for BBC Four and the ‘The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes’ for More4.
