Breakout Sessions:

Session 1: Diversity has become a dirty word for political correctness. Diversity has been hijacked by those who want to stop creativity. Diversity is a badge of fashion which ebbs and flows depending on the mood of the bosses. Sound familiar? This hour long workshop explores some of the truths and myths of what critics describe as 'the diversity industry'. It questions whether those who work in television and film are censoring themselves. It challenges current thinking on how far we can push the equality agenda, whether it is time to be less po-faced and let creativity flow. If you work in news, drama or comedy this is a must-attend event run by RTS Midlands Honorary Secretary and esteemed Broadcaster, Barnie Choudhury.

Session 2: Marc Settle from BBC News takes us through the tips and apps, gadgets and gizmos, lenses and microphones that can supercharge your smartphone. Whether it's to gather the news, film the family or make a movie, you really can use the phone in your pocket to capture broadcast-quality content. While the principles and techniques will apply to any smartphone, the session will be of most benefit to iPhone owners.
