A Production Focus is when a team from the production talk about and discuss “how it was done” from idea through to viewers’ reaction

This evening’s event will be introduced by Peter Kosminsky the writer and director with Daybreak founders David Aukin (Exec Producer) and Hal Vogel (Producer) plus Claire Foy ("Erin") and Christian Cooke (" Len") We will also hear from David Higgs (Director of Photography) Sam Stokes (Supervising Art Director) and Sarah Barton (Researcher)

The Promise sets a turbulent and moving love story against the backdrop of the world's most complex, tragic and intractable conflict - that between Israel and Palestine. It is set in two timeframes - Israel today, and the British Mandate period after the Second World War, just before the modern state of Israel was created.

This moving drama tells the emotional journey of Eighteen-year-old Erin (Claire Foy) as she retraces her grandfather Len’s (Christian Cooke) footsteps- scripted and directed by Peter Kosminsky who had received a letter from an old soldier who had served in Palestine.

Hear how this letter triggered Peter, the research done, preparation, the challenges of shooting with an international cast on location in Israeli, Editing and SFX to make the compelling story of the post-war hope of the displaced Jews, the role of the British Colonial power and the situation which is still with us today – some 60 years on.
